Integrated Strategies for Developing Future Leaders

Guest Speaker: Joanne L. Smikle, PhD
Principal Consultant, Smikle Training Services

May 21, 2019
11:15 AM – 1:00 PM

(Registration closes on Friday, May 17, 2019)

Wise executives scan the environment and identify a few select people who have the talent, commitment and drive to move the organization into the future. They have demonstrated subject matter expertise and an understanding of the realities of the larger enterprise and are the employees that organizations want to keep, cultivate and catapult into leadership roles. HR professionals play a pivotal role in engaging employees and engendering their commitment by thoughtfully implementing a developmental strategy that is both challenging and rewarding.

The Learning Objectives Include:

• Learn about the first strategy rooted in leader development, Guided Self Discovery which provides a structured method for the employee to come to a deeper understanding of the self as a potential leader.

• Understand the second strategy, Action Learning which engages the limbic system, the part of the brain concerned with motivation, learning, memory and emotion.

• Civic Engagement, the third strategy is to inspire the employee to see beyond self, work to the larger world in which we function and build higher levels of engagement between the organization and the community around it.
