Are Your Independent Contractors Really Employees, & What Does This Mean for Your Company?

The use of independent contractors to perform many critical functions of businesses is coming under increasing scrutiny and attack by federal and state agencies and the workers themselves. Long-standing independent contractor relationships are suddenly being found to be employer-relationships. Employers need to review the realities of their relationship with their non-traditional workers in a realistic manner and understand when independent contractors are really employees. This has the potential to have serious effects on pay practices, employee benefits and other areas

About the Speaker:
Chris Moody has been practicing labor and employment law for more than 25 years. His practice concentrates in the areas of labor relations, employment discrimination and wage and wage and hour law. He counsels employers on legal compliance and represents both employers and employees in litigation, including class and collective actions. In 2003 he and whitney Warner founded Moody & Warner, a labor and employment law firm based in Albuquerque
